Who we are

by Julien Gandelin

The Good Choice offers a list of the best equipment and appliances for people who want to save time, stress and money.

No matter what type of equipment you need, we want to make shopping easy by telling you what the best product is.

The site was founded in June 2018.

Our recommendations are made through reports, interviews and comparisons by teams of experienced writers and users.

We pride ourselves on following high journalistic standards and ethics, and maintain editorial independence from our business activities.

Our recommendations are always made entirely by our editorial team, and our writers and editors are never made aware of any business relationships.

We seek what we think is best for most people.

We are not looking for the most feature-rich device, nor the best design.

We choose the products that will best fit the everyday lives of the people who shop for them – and it takes work and time to select the best products.

The choices we’ve made here with our team have taken weeks or months of research and sometimes years of experience with a wide variety of equipment.

In addition to our own expertise, we include interviews and data from the best editorial sources.

And we review client feedback to find out what matters to the most important people: the end consumers.

Most of the items we choose here are not high-end models that are overpriced and loaded with unnecessary features; we aim to recommend items that are of sufficient quality to justify the price, but not items that cost more for extra features you’ll rarely use.

These are the same items we would recommend to our friends and family, and these are the same things we would choose for ourselves.

Our team

Do affiliate commissions make us biased?

If readers choose to buy the products we recommend as a result of our research, analysis, interviews and comparisons, our work is often (but not always) supported by an affiliate commission from the retailer at the time of purchase.

If readers return their purchases because they are dissatisfied or the recommendation is bad, we do not receive any commission.

We have no incentive to choose inferior products or to respond to pressure from manufacturers – in fact, quite the opposite.

We think it’s a fair enough system that allows us to remain committed to serving our readers first.

The most important thing for us is the trust we have in our readers.

If we were to recommend something because we are biased or lazy, readers like you would not support our work.

Each guide clearly states all the reasons why we made our choices so that you can judge for yourself.
